Surreal moment

So I'm sitting here eating a falafel with humus listing to Tesla. If you would have asked me 15 years ago what I be doing today I wouldn't have said seeing Tesla and eating falafel. How weird is that?

Jerry lee lewis

So I just saw he Killer himself Jerry Lee Lewis. Feaking awsome. Waiting to see the Spin Doctors next. Memphis is one of the few places you can go from seeing Particle, a funk-tronic band to seeing a living legend like Jerry Lee Lewis. So I'm here resting on the curb waitin to also see North Mississippi All Stars, Johnny Lang and Los Lonley Boys.

Day 2

Well it early on saturday. Last night was horrible weather wise. It was cold and raining. It started in the middle of Ingram Hill's set and didn't stop till I left at about 12AM. So I got to see American Hi Fi, Michael Tolcher, Ingram Hill, Gavin DeGraw, Nickel Creek did 4 songs, W.C.Clark, and most of Trey Anastiasio's set(part of which was acoustic due to electrical problems from the rain). So as we left we heard the Wallflowers do David Bowie's Hero and stopped to hear Jack Johnson do 2 song. The coolest thing of last night was when ingram hill had the crowd sing 2 song with the power out.

Well today it suppose to be cloudy and cool. Hopefully its not too awful muddy. Anyway I'm hungry. Krystals is calling my name.

I'm here

So after a dinner at Joes crab shack we hit the festival. Saw American High Fi sing 1 song. They kinda sucked. So we walked and watched a guy named Michael Tolcher. He was quite awesome. We got to see him do about 4 songs. He broke into 4 Non Blonds what's going on and then on his final song he spliced it with Buffalo Springfield's Stop (What's that Sound). Pretty good now I'm waiting on Ingram Hill in the rain now.

Memphis bound.

So I'm on the road to Memphis and it raining. They are forecasting t-storms and high winds tonight. So hopefully we are able to see Trey Anastasio tonight. It seems like I always get rained on these festivals. Last year we watched The Indigo Girls play in the worst driving rain I have ever seen. It was so bad they would turn away from the mic cause the wind was driving the rain on stage. Two years ago in Atlanta at Music Midtown we got hailed on 4 songs into Sheryl Crow's set and missed Bob Dylan that night. We walked in the hail and 2 inches of water running down the street. Totally sucked. Oh well we shall see. Maybe it won't be so bad. I'm at exit 148 on I-40 and its stopped raining but it still cloudy.

Future

So I have been kind of stressing lately about my lab closing but I got assured today that thing will be ok. The Dr. in the lab I will be going to told me not to worry and that I would be "taken care of". So that good to hear. I do still worry about whither or not I can get mostly paid from one grant. See if the percentages are not set right I will be considered having 2 part time jobs and my benefits will be taken away. I cannot deal with that. But I think it will be ok. I am planning on taking my GRE this summer. I think is what I needed to get my self out of the "rut" I am in now. I had a sense of being comfortable where I am at. So I think a lot of good may come form this. But we will see it still very early.

Although I am looking forward to Memphis this weekend. Should be fun but it forecasted for rain all day saturday. It rained some last year and made for a freaking mess. But no matter ill have fun.

Decision time

Well I just found out that the lab I'm in is closing. Kinda sucks. But I do still have a job, which is most important. But where do I go form here ... I think I need to get my shit together for graduate school. Maybe this is the kick in the butt I needed to get off my ass and do what I wanted to do.

Well I need to think this through and figure out what it is I want to do.
Star Wars Celebration III

Oh man, I had soo much fun. I'm not even a crazy Star Wars fan and it was fun. I only got to go to 2 of the 4 days but still. There where a ton of people dressed up in costumes that where amazing. They had Stormtroopers and Imperial Officers as door security. The first day (Friday 4/22) We got to see a 15 to 20 minute preview of Episode III Return of the Sith. Looks really really awsome. I heard there is a fight scene with Yoda that will blow away the one in the last movie. The preview was intro by Rick McCallum the movies producer. Had a Question and answer session after. Lots of questions about what next and about the digital 3D movie thing. After that we just walked around and I took like 130 pictures with my camera phone and another 40 with my disposable cameras. I will post them later on tonight on my Buzznet Photo Blog site. Lots of vendors with tons of toys and figures. Lots of old movie poster and t shirts. Lego was there. They had a guy who built form scratch a Imperial Star Destroyer form scratch. It was incredible. Must have been like 3 to 4 feet long. Very Detailed. They also had a life sized Lego Chewbacca and a Lego Darth Vader. That was cool to see. Lots of new Lego Toys there. My friend Mikey picked up a Darth Vader special Edition Figure for me which I gave to a girl in my lab I work with whose husband is a huge Star Wars fan. He stood in line for 5 hours to get in the store there. Both days I went they had 7 to 8 hour waits for the store and they capped the lines shortly after I got there. So I didn't get anymore figures. That was crazy. Seeing people walk out of that store with like 1500 dollars of stuff in boxes.

After walking around for a while we went to eat at a local microbrewery. It was called Ram Brewery. It was pretty good. They had a very good Pale Ale. One of the groups helping with the Celebration was doing stuff there and the restaurant was having Star Wars Specials and everything was all decorated. It was cool seeing people in costume walking around and drinking beer. So we ate there and went across the street to another microbrewery, Alcatraz brewery, to try there beer. There nut brown was incredible. The food wasn't so good but the beer was. So we went back to try to see Empire Strikes Back on the big screen they set up but they would not let us in after it started. We went up stairs to see the Star Wars in Pop Culture thing. That was pretty cool, they showed the old commercials and cameos in TV shows of actors and characters. Was neat so see the old commercials I remember as a child. Then we saw Return of the Jedi on the Big THX screen they put up. It was weird watching the movie with people that had seen the movie a hundred times. It was like seeing Rocky Horror Picture Show. People where screaming lines and making comments during the film. Was really fun to be there.

So Day 2 (4-23) George Lucas was supposed to be there. So we figured with the amount of people there we probably would not get to see him but when we go there they where handing out arm bands to see him. We grabbed one and ran to get in line still thinking we probably would not get in. But amazingly enough we did. That made the whole weekend worth what I paid for it. He talked about making and answered questions about the digital theater stuff. After that my friend wanted to get some autographs so we wondered around and looked at stuff. I got to see Michael Sheard, Daniel Logan, and Michonne Bourriague who was hot as hell by the way. Took a bunch more pictures and hit Alcratraz Brewery again and went to Rock Bottom Brewery to try there beer. Was good really good awsome Brown ale there and a really good Hefewisen. Went back to Convention Center and watched Episode I and Episode II with all the fans. They commented and said lines again.

All in all I had a great time. I'm really glad I made it there. Was good seeing Mikey again. So next weekend is Beale Street Music festival in Memphis. I so excited about the line up there. I plan on sending up updates via my Blackberry handheld and uploading Pictures right after I take them to my buzznet photo blog all weekend long, since buzznet fixed the sprint ads that where showing up.

Man what a nice day

So I am about to leave work and my god is it a nice day. Yea so nice in fact I am going to head to Boscos and drink. Yea drink. I love beer.

Anyway so my buzznet site is messed cause of freaking Sprint. See they changed there way of sending pictures and now instead of just sending a pic as an attachement to an email, it gets sent to Sprints picture mail server and then resent with freaking graphics and shit all put in the subject and body of the message that I do no want .. And it all subsequently get posted on my Buzznet site ... each graphic as a picture. Ahh this so sucks ass. This means I cant post my pictures instantly anymore, I have to send them to sprints site, download them when I get to a computer and then send them via another email account. Pain in the ass.

anyway so I'm going to go drink ... the bastards..

Hmm.....George Clinton and is playing tonight I may go see them again.

First April Post

Well I'm sucking at posting here again. Gonna need to kick my self in the ass.

Anyway my dad beat me at my NCAA picks. Although I did pick North Carolina to win .. and they did. So that's cool.

I so have a headache today but that's to be expected. I did drink a lot more than I wanted to last night.

So my friend for Portland, Oregon called me the other day cause he going to the Star Wars Celebration III (April 21-24)in Indianapolis and wanted me to drop by. So I think I am gonna go since I haven't seen him in while. Should be interesting, I think will try to make it to one of the convention days. If it wasn't so damn expensive to get in I would make it to all the days. But I bet I will see some weird stuff. Oh well.

I saw Sin City Friday. Freaking awesome. I bought the first 4 in Frank Miller Graphic novel series to read prior to seeing the move. I was amazing to see the move shot almost word for word and frame by frame for the books. They did a wonderful job. Even if you are not a comic book fan I recommend that you go see this and read the comics.

Well the summer concerts are starting up. Looks like I will be going to Memphis and Atlanta for both of there festivals. Memphis Beale Street Music Festival look awesome. Lots of great bands. I went last year and it was nice, suck ass venue and cold ass rain one night, but nice none the less. Music Midtown in Atlanta looks pretty good but the line up is a tad lacking so far. I betting they will add more bands since it is the same weekend as Bonnaroo. But we shall see.

ok so the updates so far.
