Big Changes in store..

So I have been talking about migrating my blog from blogger to Movable type for a long time. Over the coming weekend I believe I will try to accomplish that. I have been working on some site redesign and such, which is going slowly since I really don't know what I am doing. But I think I am ready.

So posting will remain light most of this week.

Not so Random Movie Quote

I have 2 today from the same movie:

Ellie Arroway: So what's more likely? That a mysterious, all-powerful God created the universe, and then decided not to leave a single evidence of his existence? Or that He simply doesn't exist at all, and that we created Him, so that we wouldn't have to feel so small and lonely?

From Contact. Ellie Arroway is Jodie Foster.

[Ellie challenges Palmer to prove the existence of God]
Palmer Joss: Did you love your father?
Ellie Arroway: What?
Palmer Joss: Your dad. Did you love him?
Ellie Arroway: Yes, very much.
Palmer Joss: Prove it.

Also from Contact. Ellie Arroway is Jodie Foster and Palmer Joss is Matthew McConaughey

Based on the Novel Contact by Carl Sagan

My first bike ride home and some goal setting.

Whew!! I'm tired. I decided that once I got all settled from my move I was going to start riding my bike home from work. I need to start getting my self back in to shape again. Well today was my first ride home. According to Google Maps the distance is about 9 miles. Not that many uphill climbs except one long ass hill. And it happens to be at tea end of my ride. So my legs are kind of burning now. But it that good kid of burn.

In high school I was a 3 sport athlete. I played Football, Basketball and Golf (opted to chase a ball around a filed instead of running around in circles). But after I graduated High school, I didn't do much but study and gain weight. So right now I pretty much out of shape as anyone can be. One of the guys I work with is doing what's called a Couch to 5K program from the Cool Running website. Its a program designed to get a beginning runner from not being a runner to 3 miles in 9 weeks. It breaks you in by incrementing you run/walk times till you are able to run more than you walk. Nice easy gradual build up. So today is going to be my first day.

I realized that I may need to alternate my bike riding and running days for a while. But I should be fine today.

current weight: 240 target weight: 200 (height is 6'2") .
I got mentioned on TV

News Channel 2 mentioned me on the 5:00 televised news cast. It was a comment I made on a discussion about Sedly Alley's Death Penalty Case. Go check it out. (link to video here)

Cool. Thanks Guys. It is very nice to know that my voice is being heard.

Now I must comment on something that was also mentioned on that piece. A comment by Katherine Coble at Just Another Pretty Farce:

"What would Christ do? He forgave the thief hanging
next to him. But that man still died of crucifixion--the consequences of
his crime."

Hmm. I think you need to reread your bible. First of all how about the Commandment "Thou shall not kill"(Exodus 20:13)? Second Jesus saved Mary Magdalene from being stoned to death for being adulterous. A capital crime in the Jewish community then. (John 7:53-8:11 also called the Pericope Adulterae) Thirdly, in Luke Chapter 23: 39-43 one of the other criminals hurled insults at Jesus. Asking him to save himself and them to. He did it to mock him. But the one defended him by saying that "..but this man has done nothing wrong". The big thing here is Jesus FORGAVE him and promised that he would be in paradise that day. The criminal also said that they deserved what was happening to them. Jesus FORGAVE!!!! Yes, they did die but if you a Christian you must undertand that that was the time that Jesus needed to die. It was supposed to happen that way. He couldn't just perfome a magic trick and save them all either.

What would Jesus do? He would not go around killing people.

I really hate it when people pull stuff out of the bible out of context. That a big problem with a vast majority of today's Christians. If they would read and use their head instead of mindlessly following these hacks people call preachers, things would be alot better off.

Anyway, Thanks to News 2 and the Wonderful Brittney Gilbert at Nashville is Talking for putting my comment on the 5:00 news.

Death Penalty

Tonight the Great State of Tennessee will execute convicted killer Sedley Alley at 1AM Central Time. Allen was convicted of killing 19 year old Suzanne Collins out side a Naval base in Memphis, Tn.

My personal feeling about the death penalty are that it is wrong to kill any one for any reason. If a man kills someome then if they are found guilty put them in jail and throw away the key. I have no problem paying to have this type of person locked up. We pay to have our trash taken to the dump. So consider keeping them in jail as a "trash storage" place. But by killing them we are saying in essence that "we can kill you but you can't kill anyone". How can this be a deterrent? If you can even call the death penalty a deterent. People are still killing people.

Is Sedley Alley Guilty? Who knows? There is some evidence that has been found that was withheld by the prosecution that may prove him innocent. Also the Tennessee State Parol Board has voted 4-3 for Governer Phil Bredesen to delay the execution until DNA testing can be done on the evidence that the police have. He needs the chance to be found innocent and Governor Bredesen should allow him this chance. But if he is found guilty by DNA testing I feel he does not deserve to die. No one deserves to die no matter how bad or heinous the crime may be.

So tonight, if the Governor does not delay this execution, he and the rest of us who live in the state will have blood on our hands, especially if he is found innocent later. We will become murderers and by law we all must face trial and then be executed. Think about it. We must get ride of this cycle.

Killing is wrong..... in any case.

UPDATE: Governor Bredesen is granting a Reprieve till May 31, 2006. Just in time for the 5:00 news.

Yes, I am still alive.

I'm all relocated and somewhat back to normalcy. Got my bed, TV and entertainment center (thanks to the DirectTV installer, he had an awesome dog), computer and desk, and most of my kitchen all unpacked and for the most part working. Now I just have to find all the rest of my stuff. Thanks to all that helped out (you know who you are). We loaded and unloaded in less then 4 hours and no major disasters and nothing was broken.

I should get back to posting again in the next couple days, hopefully.

Now if I could just find my shoes, I could go to work.......

Mondy Movie Quote #5

The Book: It is important to note that suddenly, and against all probability, a Sperm Whale had been called into existence, several miles above the surface of an alien planet. Since this isn't a naturally terrible position for a whale, this innocent creature had very little time to come to terms with its identity. This is what it thought, as it fell
The Whale: Ahhh! Woooh! What's happening? Who am I? Why am I here? What's my purpose in life? What do I mean by who am I? Okay okay, calm down calm down get a grip now. Ooh, this is an interesting sensation. What is it? Its a sort of tingling in my... well I suppose I better start finding names for things. Lets call it a... tail! Yeah! Tail! And hey, what's this roaring sound, whooshing past what I'm suddenly gonna call my head? Wind! Is that a good name? It'll do. Yeah, this is really exciting. I'm dizzy with anticipation! Or is it the wind? There's an awful lot of that now isn't it? And what's this thing coming toward me very fast? So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like 'Ow', 'Ownge', 'Round', 'Ground'! That's it! Ground! Ha! I wonder if it'll be friends with me? Hello Ground! [dies]
The Book: Curiously the only thing that went through the mind of the bowl of petunias, as it fell, was, 'Oh no, not again.

From Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The Book is Stephen Fry and the Whale is Bill Bailey.
Lite Blogging

I am going to be moving across town this next weekend and I probably wont have time to post here as I would normally.

I noticed , kinda late, that there was a post by Glen Dean on his blog about a comment I posted over at Nashville is Talking. I plan on responding to that but it will have to wait till I get through this weekend.

Oh , let the fun begin.
